Important Notice about U.S. Customs Duty on Lures
Dear Customers,
Until August 28, 2025, shipments under USD 800 could enter the United States duty-free under the “de minimis” rule.
However, effective August 29, 2025, the U.S. government has removed this exemption for fishing tackle.
As a result, all artificial lures and flies (HS Code 9507.90.70) imported from Japan are now subject to 4.5% customs duty upon entry into the United States, regardless of order value.
[Update – Important Correction]
In our previous announcement, we stated that the new U.S. customs duty on artificial lures would be 4.5%.
After implementation, the duty rate confirmed by U.S. Customs is 15%.
We apologize for the error and have corrected the information.
This change means that small orders, which were previously tax-free, will now be charged duty by U.S. Customs. Please understand that this is a government decision, and all importers are affected in the same way.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support.
Sincerely,
Proshop Otsuka
